MyIntegration – education advice (in Finnish)

Education advice can provide you with information and, for example, help you with the following:

• applying for studies
• contents of studies
• various jobs and professions
• benefits/funding during studies.

You can also get information about education from your personal coach at the municipality or TE Office. Leave a contact request through Oma Asiointi. You can also call the national telephone service for education advice on 0295 020 702. Education advice is open Mon–Fri 9:00–16:15.

WORK TRY-OUT

A work try-out may help you get your foot in the door when you have been away from working life for a long time, are just at the beginning of your working life or want to change your field and try new kinds of work. You can ask employers directly for a work try-out position, or you can ask your personal expert. The work try-out agreement is made together with the employment services and the employer. No salary will be paid during the work try-out, but you will receive the same benefit for the work try-out as you received when you were unemployed plus maintenance allowance.

THE CITY OF HÄMEENLINNA’S WORK TRY-OUT OPPORTUNITIES

The City of Hämeenlinna offers work try-out opportunities in various fields. At the city, the duration of the work try-out can be 1–12 months, but a maximum of 6 months in the same job position. The aim of work try-out at the city is to help the jobseeker assess their career choices and options, to assess the suitability of the work and to support their return to the labour market.

CAREER CHOICE PSYCHOLOGIST SERVICES

As a client of Hämeenlinna’s employment services, you have the opportunity to receive support for various career choice issues from your personal expert, but also from a psychologist specialising in career choice issues. The career planning and career choice services are intended for everyone regardless of age.

Career choice guidance mainly involves discussion about education and career options. In addition to discussion, the guidance may also include career tests and homework. The goal is to support you in your career choices.

Career choice guidance is provided by the psychologists of Hämeenlinna’s employment services. The psychologists help you find solutions to issues related to your career choice, work or education. The starting point is always your own wishes, expectations and interests.

You can agree on using career choice psychologist services with your personal expert as part of your employment plan, for example. Feel free to mention the issue when talking to your personal expert!

JOB SEARCH COACHING

Job search coaching will help you learn how to apply for a job in a target-oriented and independent way. In the coaching, you will learn:

• how to evaluate your competence and express it in a job application and CV
• how companies recruit staff
• how to use job search channels that suit you best.

After the coaching, you will also know where to find information about the labour market, companies and jobs. The job search coaching may include:

• independent acquisition of information and guidance to sources of information
• discussions on your competence with an instructor
• writing a job application and CV under guidance.

CAREER COACHING

In career coaching, you will get information, counselling, guidance and support for clarifying your vocational guidance and career options, applying for education and developing working life competences. During the coaching, you will prepare a feasible career and employment plan for yourself.

Career coaching is practical and functional. It often includes familiarisation with educational institutions and work. Career coaching may also include various short training courses for working life permits and cards. In addition to personal guidance, you will get information and support from others participating in the coaching. If necessary, a separately organised work try-out at the workplace, for example, can be combined with the service.

WORK COACHING

A work coach is a job-search support person who gives you advice and support in finding a job and getting into work.  Under the coach’s guidance, you can find and highlight your skills and strengths in the labour market. You can get a maximum of 50 hours of work coaching per year.

You can receive support from the work coach when you are:

• looking for a job
• making a job application
• preparing for an interview
• entering into an employment relationship.

If the contact or application does not lead to employment, the coach will analyse the situation with you.

PAY SUBSIDY

Many companies and organisations and the City of Hämeenlinna hire employees with pay subsidy. During work with pay subsidy, you have the opportunity to develop and maintain your professional skills or get to know a whole new field. Pay subsidy is always paid to the employer, and the employer pays you wages in accordance with the collective agreement. Pay subsidy may be granted for both permanent and temporary employment and also for part-time work. Pay subsidy may also be granted for apprenticeship training.

Pay subsidy is granted on the basis of either the duration of unemployment or a permanent disability or illness affecting the ability to work. Pay subsidy may be granted for a maximum of 12 months on the basis of the duration of unemployment and even longer on health grounds.

How can I find a job with pay subsidy?

First, discuss your access to pay subsidy with your personal expert. Once you have agreed – in your employment plan – that pay-subsidised work is a suitable service to support your employment, you can independently find an employer you are interested in and inform them about the financial support available.

When pay-subsidised jobs are announced in TE services, you can find them in the Oma Asiointi service. After you log in, the jobs will be displayed on the front page if the pay subsidy opportunity is registered in your employment plan.
