If your child needs daycare (early childhood education), apply for it no later than 4 months before you need a place. There is a queue for day care palces.

You can fill in the day care application online (in Finnish) or get a paper form at Kastelli service point. You can also return the form to Kastelli. Kastelli contact information.

You will receive the decision about the day care place by letter or e-mail. You may also expect a phone call from the day care to talk about the daycare start.

In urgent matters (for example when you find work or training), you can apply for day care 2 weeks in advance. An application for day care must be made when you register as a jobseeker or apply to school.

You can fill in the application online if you have:

  • your child’s ID number
  • your ID number
  • parent’s banking credentials

You should applay for a place 4 months before daycare begins

Fill in the online application, or

Fill in the paper application. You can get one at Kastelli city service point. Contact information to Kastelli.

WHERE ARE THE CITY DAY CARE CENTERS LOCATED?

CONFIRMATION OF A PLACE AND THE START OF EARLY EDUCATION

No later than 3 weeks before daycare begins

You will receive a decision on the day care location no later than three weeks before starting date.

Accept or reject the decision.

You will be invited for visit to day care center.

Initial conversation between family and day care center.

Day care begins

A parent can initially accompany the child at the day care center.

Revision of the checklist (weather-appropriate clothing, diapers, reservation of day care times).

Discussion with family and day care center staff (core curriculum for early childhood education).
